The stamps, both individually and as a set, are available to purchase from today. The exquisitely detailed set of illustrated stamps show famous scenes including when a young Arthur draws the sword from the stone to prove he is the true King when he marries his wife Guinevere and when he fights his son Mordred.Īlso seen is Sir Lancelot during his battle against a dragon, Sir Galahad at the end of his quest for the Holy Grail, and legendary wizard Merlin holding a baby Arthur. But now the story, popularised in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th Century work the History of the Kings of Britain, has been retold on a new collection of stamps released by the Royal Mail.
